Multistable excitonic Stark effect

نویسندگان

چکیده

The optical Stark effect is a tell-tale signature of coherent light--matter interaction in excitonic systems, wherein an irradiating light beam tunes exciton transition frequencies. Here we show that, when excitons are placed nanophotonic cavity, the can become highly nonlinear, exhibiting multivalued and hysteretic shifts that depend on history light. This multistable (MSE) arises from feedback between cavity mode occupation population mediated by Stark-induced mutual tuning resonances. Strikingly, MSE manifests even for very dilute concentrations yield discontinuous shift jumps order meV. We expect be realized readily available metal dichalcogenide systems planar photonic cavities at modest pump intensities. phenomenon provide new means to engineer coupled states matter persist single limit.

Excitonic Interactions and Stark Spectroscopy of Light Harvesting Systems

A closed expression for the Stark signal of molecular aggregates, which does not suffer from singularities when the exciton states are nearly degenerate and avoids the calculation of two-exciton states, is derived from the third order response to the total (static + optical) field, treating intermolecular interactions within the local field approximation. Transitions between one-exciton states ...

Stark Effect

An electric field partly lifts the degeneracies of atomic energy levels. This splitting was observed by Stark [1] and explained by Schrödinger [2]. We compute the Stark effect on atomic hydrogen using perturbation theory by diagonalizing the perturbation term in the N-fold degenerate multiplet of states with principal quantum number N . We exploit the symmetries of this problem to simplify the ...

The Covariant Stark Effect

This paper examines the Stark effect, as a first order perturbation of manifestly covariant hydrogen-like bound states. These bound states are solutions to a relativistic Schrödinger equation with invariant evolution parameter, and represent mass eigenstates whose eigenvalues correspond to the well-known energy spectrum of the nonrelativistic theory. In analogy to the nonrelativistic case, the ...

Effect of chaotic noise on multistable systems.

In a recent letter [Phys.Rev.Lett. 30, 3269 (1995)], we reported that a macroscopic chaotic determinism emerges in a multistable system: the unidirectional motion of a dissipative particle subject to an apparently symmetric chaotic noise occurs even if the particle is in a spatially symmetric potential. In this paper, we study the global dynamics of a dissipative particle by investigating the b...
